Job Description:

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Project Management Office and GIS Unit are seeking a short term (12 month maximum) contractor. This resource will be utilized on various projects within DOT.
The main responsibilities of this position include the following:
• Perform in role of Project Manager
• Life cycle management
• Prepare and conduct status reporting and executive briefings
• Resource management
• Risk management and time and cost management
• Manage project timelines
• Lead the technical effort
• Assigning and directing the work of staff as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Required:
-Minimum of ten (10) or more years of IT project management experience
-Working knowledge of application development in a variety of technical platforms
-Planning and management skills, including scope, estimating, budgeting and resource allocation procedures
-Strong analytical and conceptual skills
-Proven leadership skills including team development and leadership
-Positive interpersonal skills
-Strong written and Verbal communication skills
-Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects
-Strong knowledge of Project Mnaagement processes and industry best practices
-Demonstrated experience managing application development teams
-Microsoft Suite experience (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
-Excellent organizational and presentation skills
-Proven experience managing 3rd party vendor projects
-Proven experience managing large projects (>$2M)
-Proven experience developing and managing GIS Projects
Preferred:
-Strongly prefer PMP Certification
-Experience working in Project Management with tht State of North Carolina
