Our clients operate in various market segments such as buildings, municipal infrastructure, transportation, industrial and energy as well as environment.
We are now seeking a Junior Supervisor, who will be working on an exciting project at a remote location in Ontario. This is a 5 month contract position, working approximately 21 days on site with 7 days off plus travel days. Due to the nature of the remote site, the successful candidate can be located anywhere across Canada.
The successful candidate will be working and representing GENIVAR on a mining project located in Northern Ontario. The Mining deposit is one of Canada’s largest undeveloped reserves and ranks among the top ten largest reserves in North America. The 376 square kilometer property is located on the northern most, relatively under-explored, Abitibi Greenstone Belt in northeastern Ontario.
As a Junior Supervisor on this project, your key responsibilities will include:
• Provides supervision and leadership to approximately 10 project staff including establishing work priorities, directing daily assignments, providing guidance and support to subordinates in a remote camp environment while the Lead Project Surveyor is offsite.
• Responsible for monthly volume monitoring, including overseeing field survey calculations and checking volumes.
• Responsible for layout checks and quality control for all constructed works. Examples include concrete, rebar, anchor bolts and slab elevations.
• Responsible for blast monitoring. Examples include hole locations, drill depths, and patterns.
• Compile and maintain as-built of all underground and above ground constructed works.
• Prepare as-built data to accompany excavation permits.
• Manage and organize large volumes of data throughout the project life cycle.
• Interact with clients and various contractors on site to coordinate schedules of field personnel.
• Help Support the development of field personnel.
• Work directly with the client on site to identify the range of surveying services necessary to complete the project scope, and deliver on expectations.
As our ideal candidate, your experience and qualifications will include:
• A minimum of 10 years experience working in the Surveying field.
• A minimum of 2 years experience on a large construction project performing the duties above.
• Willingness to work at a remote camp location.
• Geomatics Engineering diploma and/or relevant experience
• Experience with Carlson Survey Software
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Able to interact with internal and external clients on a regular basis
• Proven organizational skills with strong technical writing and verbal communication
• Ability to lead, adapt, and contribute within a dynamic and changing environment
