Primary Job Location: Saudi Arabia; Riyadh (Central Province), Jeddah (Western Province), or Khobar (Eastern Province)
Secondary job Locations: Based upon primary office location, will be responsible for any city within that Province
Reporting to: Program Management Officer with matrix reporting to Regional Project Manager and Regional OSP Engineer
Sex: Male
Work Periods: Sat – Wed (8AM – 6PM)
Pay Scale: Salaried based, no overtime paid but overtime is probable based on demands
Contract Period: 12 months, renewable (Contract will be with Unicorn Communications)
Accompanied Status: Unaccompanied
Job Summary:
• Use CADD equipment and software to provide support to Engineers by preparing routine layouts, detailed drawings, assembly drawings, sketches & diagrams.
• Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for construction and permitting.
• Make copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to database.
• Makes simple decisions but refers most questions/problems to Engineers or Supervisor.
• Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
Duties:
1. Uses computer assisted design/drafting (AutoCAD Civil 3D and MAP 3D; ERSI ArcGIS; Intergraph G/Comms OSP Module) equipment and software to develop designs
2. Create and revise route designs, site designs, UCV designs, typicals, callouts, elevation views, 3D & 2D views, topographical views, Plan & Profiles, bridge attachments, directional bores, building risers, etc.
3. Create and revises GIS mapping information from DEM, RASTER, Full-VECTOR, topographical maps linking to GPS coordinates captured by Field Engineers
4. Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimensions, materials to be used, relationship to other drawings
5. Utilities CADD software packages to create multi-layered views of pathways and drawings
6. Draws finished designs from sketches, GPS coordinates downloads, and other Engineering tools
7. Updates and or creates Drafting and Engineering Standards
8. Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for Production Drawings
9. Assists in costing jobs
10. Assists in creation of BOM
Work Environment:
Predominantly will work within an office space, however will be required to conduct site surveys in the field. Additionally maybe required to participate in business meetings with outside entities.
Will require sitting for long periods of time and working on computer systems thus potential eye strain and wrist strain.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and or Experience:
Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
1. MUST be able to READ, Write, and SPEAK – ENGLISH fluently. An added plus would be able to speak and write Arabic.
2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
3. Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondence.
4. Ability to speak effectively before groups or customers or employees of organisation to present drawings, etc. With multi-layers to internal management and external clients.
Mathematical Skills:
1. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
2. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
1. High skills in AutoCAD Civils 3D and MAP 3D
2. Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office 2007 Professional
3. Ability to learn new graphic software to compliment the presentation of designs
4. Underground and Aerial Outside Plant experience
5. GIS experience highly desirable
Physical Demands:
1. Employee is regularly required to site for extended periods of time
2. Frequently required to be outdoors conducting site surveys, gathering GPS and GPR information
3. Use of hands, fingers, and feet
4. Able to lift and move upto 50 pounds
5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, and ability to adjust focus. |
